Mac Friendly Poker Software Launched – September 5th, 2005
GamesGrid, the next generation poker room, has announced the world’s first and only poker software specifically written for Macintosh users. Developed by CyberArts in California the new software has been exclusively licensed to Malta-based Skill Games ltd who operate the GamesGrid brand. The new software is now available in beta version, and is set for a Worldwide launch in early September 2005.
Skill Games CEO Geraint Bungay says, “We are thrilled to be able to offer the first true online poker service for Mac users. The Mac market has been waiting for this application and this underlines our commitment to offering the best possible experience for online poker. I look forward to welcoming the Mac community to GamesGrid.”
Chris Derossi, the former chief architect of the Macintosh operating system at Apple Computer, and an renowned poker player, has been the lead developer on the project which is the culmination of two and a half years of work by CyberArts, an acknowledged pioneer in online skill gaming. Their new application takes online poker to an unprecedented level of sophistication on the Mac platform.
“Online poker has left the Mac world out in the cold,” says Derossi. “Our next generation software opens up online poker to Mac users the world over with an application that is 100% equal in capability to PC software “
While Derossi is a guru of Mac software development he is also a co-author of the well-known book “Winning at Internet Poker for Dummies”. His company, CyberArts, has brought together a software development team with over a century of experience, from Silicon Valley companies including Palm Computing, Adobe, Apple, Sybase and eBay.
Until now the only option for Mac users wanting to play poker on their computers has been to run a virtual PC emulator or to play the game in an inferior browser-based version. CyberArts and Skill Games have combined their expertise in online skill gaming and software into a new application that takes full advantage of the power of the Mac platform and overturns the clichés of windows-based poker software that replicate every unnecessary detail of bricks and mortar card rooms.
“This is a new kind of application for all types of internet gaming,” says Derossi, “The software is language neutral so we can change any aspect of the client experience at the server end. This is unprecedented and puts an end to the inevitable downloading of updates that other sites require,”
CyberArt’s new application draws from Derossi’s extensive enterprise computing background and is built to withstand the phenomenal growth rates experienced by online poker sites. Derossi adds, “It is the only poker software which can be easily localised into any culture or language.
