Orient Express went live on the 30th November 2017 and we are pleased to bring this review and a fully functional free play version of this slot here on OCR on the same day. Indeed this is probably a first for us. But then November 2017 has been an extremely busy month for us adding free play slots to the site!

So what is Orient Express Slot, how does it play and most importantly do we like it? Well read on…

Orient Express Overview

Orient Express from Yggdrasil is a 5 reel, 20 payline slot with a reported RTP ( Return to Player ) of 96.1%, with the slot available to play now, for real money at several recommended casinos by OCR.

As we have found with games produced by Yggdrasil that we have reviewed, the slot has slick graphics, good atmospherics and sound effects. The game as hinted in the name is based on the famous European Orient Express train. With your journey starting in Paris, with the aim to make the final destination of Istanbul in Turkey.

The intro that is played when the slot starts up, depicts an animated scene where passengers board the train in Paris at the beginning of their journey. The slot plays out with the Eiffel Tower and Paris in the background, with symbols featuring characters who are passengers on the Orient Express.

Visually the Orient Express Slot Machine is first class. Yggdrasil have also certainly gone to town to ensure that this slot plays as good as it visually looks. So definitely a thumbs up from us in this particular area.

Four Game Modes

First off there are four game modes within the Orient Express which are based on the four cities you ‘travel’ to. Starting off in Paris, you make your way from there to Venice, Belgrade and the final stop of Istanbul. Each city is unlocked after completing a number of free spin rounds.

Once you have unlocked all four cities, you are then able to choose any of the cities each time you complete a free spins round.

Bonus Feature Rounds

That’s all well and good but what about the feature rounds, how many are there and are they any good? Up to 30 free spins can be won, by hitting 3 or more scatter symbols.Well Orient Express offers a total of four bonus feature rounds located in the different cities featured in the game, which players can be awarded.

More good news is that it is possible to ‘Re-Trigger’ your free spins.

The bonus features to look out for during the free spins feature are:

• Walking Wild – This free spins bonus feature round occurs in Paris. With ‘Walking Wilds’ appearing on top of random regular symbols after the reels stop. Walking Wilds award you with an additional free spin and move to the left. Within the Free Spins mode in Paris, Walking Wilds appear more often than in the normal base game.
• Multiplier Clock – The Multiplier Clock occurs in the Free Spins mode in Venice. Unlike in the base game where a random multiplier can be awarded to a winning spin. In the free spins mode in Venice, a multiplier ranging from x2 – x5 is applied to all winning spins.
• Small Trains – When playing in Belgrade and you are awarded the free spins feature, Small Trains act as an expanding wild. This are possible on reels 1 -3 and unlike the normal game mode are awarded on each spin during the free spins feature.
• Postcards – Postcards when playing the free spins feature in Istanbul anything between 2 – 12 symbols on each free spins are turned into a ‘Postcard’ wild symbol.

Summary of Orient Express Slot Machine

I have to say that Orient Express is my own personal favourite of all four Yggdrasil Gaming slot machines which I have currently played and reviewed. Hence the particular high scores bestowed on them by OCR.
