Blackpool Super Casino Plans Announced – February 12th, 2005

Blackpool Council has said that plans to build a hotel and Super Casino complex in the resort have attracted worldwide interest. It revealed that 22 companies, including major players from Las Vegas and South Africa, responded to its deadline for written submissions.

Although other locations in the United Kingdom will also be considered, once the Gambling Laws are passed through Parliament, Blackpool is a front runner to be home to one of the first Super Casinos to be opened in the UK.

The plans would involve building hotels, a conference centre and a regional casino on the Golden Mile. Blackpool should know next year if it is to be awarded one of the “super casino” licences by the government.
