Grosvenor Casino, Leicester Square – London

Leicester Square in London is host to numerous Brick and Mortar Casinos and whilst not the largest, the Grosvenor Casino is one of my favourites.

Of course Grosvenor is a chain of casinos, with many casinos located up and down the country, but Grosvenor Casino Leicester Square is arguably their best casino establishment.

The popularity of the Grosvenor is such that they even have their own online casino of which we review and recommend here on OCR.

Here you can read our review of the Grosvenor Online Casino which features a huge variety of games from the likes of IGT, NetEnt and Microgaming. Anyhow, this page is concerning their land based cousin in Leicester Square, so no more talking about their online offering!

The video above includes a brief discreet filming of a walk thru of the casino, obviously like the other UK Casinos which we have recorded walk thru videos in, the Grosvenor does not allow filming inside their premises. Hence the footage is a bit wobbly at times. But footage is better than no footage and I think you will find you will get a good feel for the casino setting as a result.

Upon entering the casino and thanks to the 2005 UK Gambling Act I walked into the Grosvenor straight off the street without a membership there, you are greeted by the receptionist.

I was politely asked if I was a member ( I wasn’t ) and also asked if I had self excluded from any land based casino in the past six months ( I hadn’t ) or whether I had been banned by any casino in the UK ( I haven’t ). The receptionist went on to inform me that if I gamble £1000 or more, or win £1000 or more, I would have to join and become a member.

Lastly I also had to provide ID. Note, not all casinos ask for your ID upon entering the establishment. Normally for those that are not exclusive to members only, you are only normally asked to provide ID if you cashout a big win. Usually in the range of over £1000 – £1500.

First  Impressions of The Grosvenor

Believe it or not this was the first ever time I had visited the Grosvenor Leicester Square and I was pleasantly surprised with the layout and look and feel of the casino.

As per the vast majority of UK Casinos the casino is limited by current legislation as to how many slot machine cabinets they are allowed to have on the premises. Side note if you are looking for slots a plenty then visit Aspers Casino in Stratford!

Whilst I visited the casino on a Monday Evening, the casino did not seem too busy, but the layout including the ‘Balcony Terrace’ showed that a lot of thought had got into the planning of the casino.

When I went to the bar to grab a coke to take with me on my stroll through the casino, I was mildly surprised that it was complimentary. Now I know in Vegas you get free drinks when playing at the slots and this is even the case at some casinos in the UK when playing. But to get given a complimentary drink without even dusting the cobwebs off my wallet, was much appreciated and a nice touch.

Overall Opinion

I will definitely return when in the area. I likes the general ambience of the casino and the layout as mentioned above was good. Also very impressed that quite clearly the management have ensured that responsible gambling is of great importance. Hence the questions upon initially entering the casino.

If you find yourself in Leicester Square and fancy a spin or two on the slot machines I definitely recommend that you give The Grosvenor a visit.
